Saw the Townshend endorsement couple of months ago and, like Andy's review, had to have one at £499. They were shipping them out with free delivery then, in the UK anyway.
I wanted it not because I'm turning away from valves , but because its more practical for me. The stack can come out again when I get asked to do a festival somewhere and I want to piss the PA guys off!
The sound. Simply great. I dont know what's going on inside but it's very valvey and even organic (which, for a solid state, is unbelieveable). Your guitar really does interact with the amp, and even tiny adjustments to my tone or volume controls effects the sound. Feeds back for ages if you like, and I even get a nice country twang if I want it. Great sustain. Call me old fashioned if you like.
Like Andy, I could do without the badge. Who needs reverb? Ask your mate to play your guitar with reverb while you're playing rock or blues loud in a hall, stand at the back and tell me it doesn't sound shite.
Excellent; BUT! those lovely little lights that simulate the valves clipping might end up getting pushed in at some point?
Don't know what else to say, really. For the price it is the best solid state guitar amp I've ever heard, so I'll give it a 5 on that basis. Would I swap it for my Marshall head and 4 x 12? No. I'll keep both, thanks. Horses for courses.
